AI Artist Kim00 Interview

1. Self-Introduction

Hello, I'm Kim00, an AI artist active in Korea.

I'm currently working on various projects using AI, including animation and media art.

I am the main creator of Team AI Magic, which produces AI films,

and I'm actively involved in the AI field as a judge, facilitator, instructor,

and mentor for organizations like the Korea Character Association

and the Korea Creative Content Agency.

I mainly create works that explore humanity and human nature using AI.

I focus on various underlying aspects to express the invisible,

and by understanding the relationship between humans and technology,

I've produced various video content with AI, including 'The Guardian,'

the opening film of the Busan International Artificial Intelligence Film Festival.

2. Why I Started Using Supertone PLAY & Memorable Moments

Honestly, there are so many TTS services that I initially tried the well-known ones.

But when I happened to try Supertone PLAY, everything changed.

I loved the variety of emotionally rich character voices, and most importantly,

since I mainly work with Korean dialogue, having access to diverse voices

that capture Korean sensibilities was crucial. In filmmaking, dialogue performance

accounts for more than half of the impact, right?

PLAY delivers clean baseline performances that can be used immediately without awkwardness.

This has dramatically reduced the time and cost of casting voice actors,

so now I naturally use PLAY regularly.

3. How PLAY Solved Problems I Previously Faced

At first, I thought I needed to hire actual actors to properly capture specific character tones.

I planned to create character voices based on those recordings.

However, during production, the dialogue kept changing while the deadline remained fixed,

leaving me with absolutely no time.

Eventually, I had to complete everything from editing to dubbing in a single day,

so I personally recorded all the character voices with a microphone.

This definitely shortened production time, but another problem emerged:

my acting skills and pronunciation were lacking.

That's when I tried TTS services, and PLAY in particular made a huge contribution.

I actually used PLAY for dubbing two works, 'Child of the Moon' and 'Sonang,'

and it was thanks to PLAY that I could complete both editing and dubbing in such a short time.

4. Do You Have Favorite PLAY Voices?

Hanna – News/documentary tone, I use her most frequently.

Luna – She has a great robot/AI feel, perfect for SF genres; all the guidance narration

for 'Humanity's Choice' and 'R.A.I.' was done with Luna.

5. What Features Did You Like When Using PLAY?

What I appreciate most about PLAY is how it completely streamlines the workflow.

First, file management is incredibly convenient since you can select specific clips

or download everything at once.

Also, you can simply paste scripts as TXT files and extract them immediately,

which greatly reduces stress in projects with frequent dialogue changes.

Additionally, you can make real-time minor adjustments to pitch or speed,

allowing you to keep the basic performance tone while fine-tuning only what's necessary.

Crucially, the Korean-specific emotional nuances come through so well that personally,

I find it much more natural than ElevenLabs or Typecast.

6. Are There Any Contents Made with PLAY That You'd Like to Introduce?

I would like to highlight 'Luna Phase,' which won the silver award at the

ViduQreation Challenge. It would have taken a very long time if I had cast voice actors,

but using Supertone PLAY allowed me to work extremely quickly and achieve good results,

which was very satisfying.

7. Many People Would Be Curious About How Such Amazing Videos Are Made!

Could You Briefly Explain Your Content Creation Process?

  1. Planning – Writing the idea, scenario, and dialogue framework using ChatGPT
  2. Style Confirmation – Setting up key images and character designs using Midjourney
  3. AI Video Testing – Using various AI video models to select the optimal engine
  4. Cut Editing – Working in Premiere Pro
  5. Voice & Sound
    • Early/Middle stages: Placing temporary dubbing with PLAY TTS
    • Later stages – When necessary, using self-recording with the real-time

8. Projects and Ideas You'd Like to Try in the Future

This will probably take some time to materialize, but I've been creating several animations.

I believe that character voices have much more impact in animation than in other genres.

So this time, instead of using those voices just for myself, I want to share them

with fans and subscribers, creating a system where anyone can freely use them

for secondary creation. Looking at recent trends in the AI industry, the next step

seems to be "allowing users to directly participate in content creation and

making that process easier with AI." Following this direction, I'm planning to build

a platform where fans can easily use character voices and add their own stories.

I think it would be great to utilize PLAY's API for this project.

9. To Creators Considering Adopting TTS

To be honest, the biggest benefit I've felt using Supertone PLAY is time-saving.

At first, I too hesitated, wondering "Won't TTS sound awkward?"

I had the characteristic unnatural feeling of old TTS stuck in my head.

But when I actually worked with PLAY, that awkwardness was significantly reduced,
